Oprah and her moron audience.

I didn't see Oprah's interview with Big Jaw.  I only saw clips, and the "online exclusive"
40 minute-Post-Interview-Jay-Love-Fest that was posted on oprah.com

There was lots of "ERGH!" and "OH MY GOD!" and "BAH!" and "ARE YOU KIDDING ME???" directed at the little video playing on my laptop.  (I often talk at my TV too.  My mom used to say, "You get that from your grandfather."  I never knew him, and I kinda love the fact that we have something so silly in common.)

Anyway, about an hour later, I'm still riled up about this, but I cannot seem to put my thoughts into any kind of coherent order.  For now I'll just settle on simply saying that I'm riled.

Facebook. You're all a bunch of liars.

I was one of the last people I know to join the Cult of Facebook.

The first thing I noticed is that many people on Facebook are Friend Collectors.  This bothers me.

Right now, I have about 112 friends (after a recent purge), but I'd probably have closer to 150 if I had accepted everyone who friended me.  Look, if you couldn't be bothered with me in high school, or vice versa, and I haven't seen or spoken to you since, I most likely do not want to be your friend on Facebook.  If I see you in my daily life, but we pretty much never say hello to each other, let alone have a conversation, I do not want to be your friend on Facebook.  I'm not even sorry if this sounds harsh.  It's just the way it is.

Facebook has turned people into a bunch of BIG FAT LIARS.  People accept "friendships" because they don't want to hurt someone's feelings.  Really?  Someone you barely know, and maybe don't even LIKE, and probably wouldn't stop to talk to on the street (or in a HALLWAY)??? People become "fans" of pages for similar reasons.  You don't like the person, you're "not a fan", they're certainly NOT talented, yet you become a fan of their page anyway?  Seriously, how come???  Because they SUGGESTED that you do?

I've had it with this crap.  Recently, some of my "friends" (not just on Facebook, but in real life) have participated in some of the activities above that have resulted in my feelings being hurt.  Even though I got over it quickly, it left a pretty bad taste in my mouth.  I ALMOST deleted my Facebook page.  But instead, I just "unfriended" some peeps.  Maybe it's petty, I don't know, I don't care. If they aren't concerned with my feelings, and what I may see on their pages, or on the "news feed", then I'm not that concerned about how they might feel if I "unfriend" them.

The Last (String) Dance?

I watched the very first Late Night with Conan O'Brien in 1993.  I've been a fan ever since.  He's funny, and brilliant, and so quick.  Watching him interview other comedians (this week alone- Ricky, Robin...) is amazing.  He's so quick and incredibly witty.  And can turn something not funny into ridiculously funny in the blink of an eye.
Conan (and his staff- let's not forget about the rest of the talented people out of jobs because of the brilliant minds flying the plane over there at NBC) got screwed.  It's amazing to me that it's acceptable to run a network that way.
A friend of mine and I used to joke about "well, when we take over hollywood..."
I think it's time...
:)
Well, whatever.  Conan will be much better off being the number one choice of a network- getting the job because they want him to have it, not just getting the job because they don't want someone else to get him.  NBC was like "well, we don't REALLY want you, but we don't want you to be more successful anywhere else."  There's the other thing I don't get.  They were so bent on keeping Conan, that they sort of shoved Jay out.  NOW they want Jay back in?  Good grief, you idiots.  THINK before you do.  You are messing with people's lives!

Anyway, I look forward to seeing Conan do well on his future late night show.  I will be watching the first night.  Again.  I just hope he gets to take Conando and the String Dance with him.

WORST cover EVERRRRRRRRR

Did anyone see the Hotrats on Letterman the other night?
I was drifting off to sleep as the song began, and a few lines in, I recognized the lyrics, and I was instantly wide awake and HORRIFIED.  This has to be the WORST cover of a song EVER done in the history of the universe.

But that's just my opinion.

Hotrats on Letterman:

And now, how it's supposed to be done:

Tom & The Fonz Go For a Ride

This is one of my favorite things from The Tonight Show with Conan.

For some reason, I am thoroughly entertained by people smashing things... like when Letterman throws stuff off the roof of the Ed Sullivan theater...

Enjoy!

UPDATE:
I've deleted the video because it's no longer available, and the alternate suggestions were Jay Leno clips.  Jay Leno clips will NOT be found on MY blog.

links! links!! links!!!

THIS JUST IN:  I've been fiddling around with different blog layouts, and I just lost all the links I posted last night... bah!  working on restoring, and finding a better layout!

I have just added several links to some websites and blogs.
They are all people I know, and they're all talented!
Most are photography, some aren't, but either way, you should check them out, asap!

nbc execs must be on crack

Someone at nbc must not know what funny is.

It's such a shame that that someone makes programming decisions.  In my opinion, nbc's late night line up should be left just as it is.  The writing for both Conan and Jimmy is hilarious!  And it's so great to have Andy back with Conan!  And as you know from a previous post, The Real Housewives of Late Night is ridiculously funny!!!

The only thing (somewhat) funny on Leno's show is "jay walking" and "headlines".
You don't need to be funny to pull off those bits.  Anyone can talk to stupid people on a street, and hold up dumb headlines mounted to a board.  The brilliant thing about both Conan and Jimmy is, even when the joke bombs, it's STILL funny.  Same with Letterman for that matter.  Craig Ferguson too!

I'm sure I'll be ranting a bit more on this topic...

new old image

I shot this back in 1999 during my Color Projects class at NESOP.  It never quite fit into my Color Portfolio, but I've always kinda loved this one.  It's available now on redbubble.com, fineartamerica.com or imagekind.com.

My good friend Karly is an amazing stationary designer.  If you need wedding invitations, you need Karly to design them...
She has won many minted.com challenges, and they interviewed her recently for their blog!  (also included are many photos of her amazing home.)

yet another site...

I've just uploaded my beach images to imagekind.com
after seeing how many hits my images are getting on RedBubble.com and fineartamerica.com, I looked into finding a site that gets a bit more traffic... imagekind has apparently been around for a bit, and is now owned by CafePress.
although I realize that I haven't been on redbubble and fineartamerica for that long, hopefully this one will be a bit more successful...
